SALEM, Va. – The Adam Ward Classic wrapped up Saturday with seven games on tap at Salem High School. The 7th annual event is held in honor of the late photojournalist who was tragically killed on the job.
The event has contributed over $90,000 to the Adam Ward Scholarship Fund which is administered by the Salem Educational Foundation and Alumni Association.
In the only girls game on Saturday, William Fleming defeated Carroll County 70-43. In what started as a close, back and forth game, quickly turned in favor of the Lady Colonels who drained multiple second-half three pointers to get the victory. Elon University commit Alyssa Ervin scored 29 points in the Lady Cavaliers loss.
On the boys side, Northside defeated Radford 75-50. In the opening quarter, Kai Logan scored 8 points for the Vikings who were led by Cy Hardy’s 20 points. Mykell Harvey added another 19 points in the victory.
