DALEVILLE, Va. – At the home of the Cavaliers, it has become clockwork to see student-athletes moving forward.
Linebacker and tight end Dalton Oxley has now signed on with Hampden-Sydney. The three-sport athlete in football, wrestling, and track was especially appreciative of the Botetourt community, and the football program which helped put him on this path. He explained it’s about more than football when you play under coach Jamie Harless.
“It’s life skills ... it’s not just football skills for sure. Learning how to deal with all kinds of problems going on in your life. Hardships ... it’s a lot of not giving up, knowing how to respond, and keeping your emotions under control. It’s thinking logically about those decisions you’re making, but this program has been such a blessing,” Oxley explains.
Oxley is majoring in biology and has a career interest in being a physical therapist. He said he became interested as he learned more and more about both training for football and dealing with injuries in the sport.
