1st and 10 Trophy Tour: Galax’s Tedruhn Tucker

Maroon Tide junior rushed for 240 yards, 4 touchdowns in playoff opener

Galax, Va. – WSLS 1st and 10 Trophy Tour travels to Galax to honor another dynamic playmaker for the Maroon Tide.

Perennial power Galax was once again the top seed in region 1C and they would perform like it to open the playoffs. Junior running back Tedruhn Tucker rambled for 240 yards and the ‘Gettysburg Address’ --4 score! -- in a win over Bath County.

The 1st and 10 Trophy Tour traveled to Galax and Eric Johnson did the honors, handing over the hardware. The VHSL second team all-state running back says preparation was the key.

”What made that night so successful for you?

“What made the night so successful was most definitely the offensive line. We prepared well, practiced well. Long week of practice and we came out and played hard,” Tucker explained.

“You know he put his time in. He was a back up his freshman and sophomore year and this year he got his chance to shine. He worked hard in the off-season and worked hard at practice. You know he just is just getting everything he deserves. He worked hard and he continues to work hard and we’re looking for a good year next year too, ” Galax head coach Shane Allen says.

Tucker rushed for more than 2100 yards and 20 touchdowns this fall--as a junior.
