FLOYD, Va. – Our 1st and 10 Camp Tour rolls on to Floyd County where Winfred Beale is entering his 42nd season as head coach. The Buffaloes went 6-5 in the fall, with the senior class having played 18 weeks of games in 2021. They used a complete offseason to their advantage, and are ready to show that hard work pays off this fall.
“I think we’ve grown a lot since last season, we’ve had a mixture of new people, with COVID and injuries and people were in and out throughout the year, we took awhile to gel,” Beale said. “This year, we’re starting with great intensity and great continuity and I think good things are in the future for us.”
“This senior class, we like to keep it intense, we have a speaker out here, we’re all intense, we like to get hyped up and into it, so that not only us but the younger guys see that and get encouraged as well,” senior linebacker Gus Chaffin said. “It’s our last year so we’re trying to finish with a bang and bring that intensity every day, and be strong, and get better because if you’re out here dead, it ain’t fun, you ain’t getting better, so we try to make it fun not only for us but the young guys as well.”
Floyd County opens up their season on Friday, August 26th against Christiansburg.
