BLACKSBURG, Va. – On Wednesday, Virginia Tech head coach Brent Pry detailed some changes he made during spring ball. One of the more surprising was the news that quarterback Connor Blumrick was taking reps at wide receiver. On Thursday, during an open period of practice, Blumrick was dressed in a white jersey, and not missing a beat catching passes, something wide receivers coach Fontell Mines was impressed with.
“I love it. He brings a different aspect to the room with a quarterback mentality,” Mines said. “He has tremendous ball skills, he can run. I think those are one of the top two qualities of a receiver you would like when you recruit them, you want them to run and catch the ball. I think he can do that, and he’s going to offer versatility for us. He’s going to be able to do a lot for us offensively so I’m super excited.”
Virginia Tech’s spring game is just two weeks away on Saturday April 16th.
