Auburn boys look to finish title run, two years in the making

Eagles face Washington & Lee for Class 1 Boys title

Riner, Va. – Auburn head coach Terry Millirons remembers two years ago taking his team up these steps into the lobby of the Siegel Center and informing his team that they wouldn’t be playing in the Class 1 state championship due to Covid 19. -

“There’s never been a loss worse than that moment,” Millirons says.

But two years later they have another opportunity at the Class one title.

“It’s definitely motivating me and my dad more than the other guys, they weren’t there to experience it like we were,” star guard Ethan Millirons explains.

Head coach Terry Millirons says the chemistry of this team is unmatched.

“We all get along, no one takes themselves too seriously, they have fun together and like I said, I think its created a culture where they want to work hard, they want to get better, and they all fight and play for each other,” Millirons says.

But Auburn’s balance of being able to shoot from the arc, and take it inside -- is sure to be the catalyst for Saturday’s game against Washington and Lee.

“They’re going to be very aggressive and fast, up tempo, trying to push the pace. I think we have the size advantage inside, and we have the length advantage, so hopefully we can take advantage,” Ethan says.

Senior Ethan Millirons could close the chapter on his high school career with more accolades than most if the season ended today(Auburn’s all-time leading scorer). But he’s got one more opportunity to play, and hopefully be hoisting a trophy at the end of it.

AND WHAT DO YOU THINK?

I think it would feel great, all the work I’ve put into this program, it would pay off,” Ethan says.

21-8 Auburn tips off against 15-7 Washington & Lee at 6:30 p.m. from Richmond.
