Georgia Amoore made a quick layup off an inbounds play, as well as making her free throw, put the Hokies up by three with just two seconds left.
With the clock expiring, UNC’s Eva Hodgson drained a 3-pointer to tie the game at 69-all, sending it to overtime.
In overtime, Virginia Tech would go on to outscore UNC, 18-11.
Aishia Sheppard and Georgia Amoore led the Hokies with 22 points each.
The Hokies will now take on the winner of Friday afternoon’s game between 1-seed NC State and 9-see Florida State.
