ACC Football: Virginia to face seven bowl-eligible teams from 2021

Thursday and Friday night conference games also on the Cavaliers’ slate

ROANOKE, Va. – Monday night, the Atlantic Coast Conference released the 2022 football schedules. Head Coach Tony Elliott will make his coaching debut in the Cavaliers September 3 season opener, when they host Richmond. This will be the eighth time in program history the Cavaliers will open against the Spiders.

Other non-conference matchups for Virginia include a road trip to Illinois (Sept. 10) and home games against Old Dominion (Sept. 17) and Coastal Carolina (Nov. 19).

Virginia will open up ACC play on the road in a Friday night showdown with Syracuse on Sept. 23. They will then travel to Duke on Oct. 1 before returning home to host Louisville on Oct. 8.

For the second consecutive season, the Cavaliers will host 4 straight home games: Miami (Oct. 29), North Carolina (Nov. 5), Pitt (Nov. 12) and Coastal Carolina (Nov. 19). The much anticipated in-state rivalry matchup with Virginia Tech, the Commonwealth Clash, will be on Nov. 26 at Lane Stadium in Blacksburg.
