CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – University of Virginia athletics announced Thursday that the women’s basketball team will not finish the rest of their 2020-21 season, citing health and safety concerns with COVID-19.
“The decision to end our season mid-stream comes with great difficulty. As difficult as it is to end our season in this manner, it is a necessary one,” said head coach Tina Thompson. “The health and safety of our student-athletes will always be the number one priority.”
