Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott is safe for at least one more week after a judge on Monday turned down the NFL's request for an expedited hearing in his case, according to a report from The Associated Press.
U.S. District Judge Katherine Polk Failla rejected the request, affirming the originally scheduled next hearing for Oct. 30, the day after the Cowboys play at Washington.

NFL commissioner Roger Goodell originally handed Elliott a six-game suspension in August over domestic violence allegations, but the ban has yet to go into effect as the running back and the NFLPA took the league to court.
After the NFL received a preliminary injunction against a court ruling allowing Elliott to play, another judge issued a restraining order last week that cleared him to play in Sunday's 40-10 win at San Francisco.
Elliott excelled in the rout of the winless 49ers, scoring three touchdowns and posting a career best 219 yards from scrimmage.
Elliott, 22, was accused of having several physical confrontations during the summer of 2016 with his then-girlfriend Tiffany Thompson. The league decided to suspend him following a yearlong investigation despite prosecutors in Ohio declining to bring charges, citing conflicting evidence.
