Phillips Ready to Take Lead Receiver Role

Blacksburg (WSLS-10 Sports)-  Coming off a seventy-six catch season, where he nearly eclipsed 1000 yards--its hard to believe Cam Phillips was option three in the Hokies air attack.  But with the departure of Isaiah Ford and Bucky Hodges, the spotlight--and the defense's attention will fall squarely on the senior star.   What also is about to change--is how the Hokies choose to utilize him moving forward.

"Actually I'm looking forward to that being able to move and be used in different ways according to what the team needs and what the coaches ask.  I feel like I've earned that position you know being able to understand the plays and how to run routes on the outside and the inside and I'm looking forward to it this spring," explains Cam.

Phillips is first among the active ACC leaders in both receptions and receiving yards coming into 2017. He is 905 yards short of overtaking the departing Ford as the Virginia Tech all-time receiving yards leader.
