MARTINSVILLE – Martinsville has a new police chief.
Deputy Chief Eddie Cassady will replace Chief Sean Dunn, who just left to take over as chief in Williamsburg.
Cassady has been with the department since 1985 and has been the deputy chief since 2014.
In a statement Friday, Martinsville City Manager Leon Towarnicki said, in part, "We expect the transition to be smooth and seamless."
Cassady's first official day as chief will be June 19.
