DCC holds 'cuddle break' to help students relieve stress of finals

Danville Area Humane Society pets brought to campus for students to play with

DANVILLE, Va. – Some shelter animals are helping some college students relieve the stress of finals.

On Wednesday, Danville Community College held a "cuddle break."

Students could stop by the student center and cuddle and play with animals from the Danville Area Humane Society.

This is finals week for the college.

The inaugural event in 2016 was very popular, so the college decided to do it again this year.

The coordinator said 2016's event even inspired some students to volunteer at the humane soceity.

"It's a good distraction. We actually just took our last (final), so we were all like, 'Ok, it's finished! We can go play with the dogs and cats,'" student Maria Salazar said. "It's a good stress reliever because it's definitely been really tough and really stressful."

The college now plans to hold the event again in 2018.
