Body found in dumpster near Danville welding shop

DANVILLE, Va. – Danville police are investigating a homicide after a body was found in a dumpster. 

Police are on the scene at Hudson's Welding Shop on Westover Drive.

Shortly after 8 a.m., an employee of Interstate Battery and another person found a pair of flip-flops in front of the dumpster. When they looked inside, they saw the body of an African-American woman, according to police.

Police have blocked off a section of the street with crime tape. They are collecting and marking evidence. The dumpster itself has also been hauled off as evidence.
