The store, at 3533 Franklin Road SW, was on a list released by the company Friday.

Sears Holdings says the closing of the stores is part of its strategy both to address losses from unprofitable stores and to reduce the square footage of other stores because many of them are simply too big for their current needs.
It is the only Virginia location among the 43 stores listed.
The company says the store will be closed by early October and that eligible associates impacted by these store closures will receive severance and will have the opportunity to apply for open positions at area Kmart or Sears stores.
Liquidation sales will begin as early as July 13 at all closing stores.
The two Kmart stores that remain open in the area are in Lynchburg and Danville.
