Roanoke College students and Habitat for Humanity build new home for family

Students worked on home for months

SALEM, Va. – One local family now has the keys to their new home just in time for Christmas.

On Saturday, Habitat for Humanity, in partnership with Roanoke College, handed the keys to a home to the Kafley family.

Bal, his wife Dilli and their three children will now have a place to call home for the holidays, thanks to a yearlong partnership between Roanoke College and the non-profit.

"Roanoke College students have really put in all the love and labor, and Roanoke College itself has put in all the funding, in the possibility to have students have this experience," student liaison Daria Chicosky said.

This is the same house that students began working on at freshman orientation. Volunteers said students came out every Saturday to help build the home.
