Crews extinguish house fire in Southeast Roanoke

ROANOKE, Va. – Fire crews extinguished a house fire in Southeast Roanoke on Tuesday morning.

Dispatch confirms firefighters responded to a home near the intersection of 13th Street and Morton Avenue.

Around 5:50 a.m., Roanoke Fire-EMS responded to the fire in the 1200 block of 13th Street SE.

About 30 firefighters found heavy smoke and flames coming from the rear of the house.

No one was inside when the fire started and no one was hurt by the fire, according to Roanoke Fire-EMS.

Crews got the fire under control by 6:19 a.m., according to Roanoke Fire-EMS.

The cause remains under investigation and damage estimates are around $20,000, according to Roanoke Fire-EMS.
