ROANOKE, Va. – A local church delivered about $22,000 worth of food donations to Feeding America Southwest Virginia.
Members from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints brought in a truckload of boxes containing a total of nearly 17,000 meals for those in need.
The delivery totaled to more than 20,000 pounds of food.
Members of the church hope this will make a difference during the fall and winter seasons.
“My hope is that we can bring some happiness into the lives of the people here in our area by providing these commodities and things that they need in their home,” said member, Kevin Bohon at the Church of Jesus Christ for Later-Day Saints.
Officials with Feeding America Southwest Virginia say this is the third major food donation they have has received from the church.
