Group covers UVA Jefferson statue with black tarp, lists demands

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – A group covered the Thomas Jefferson statue in front of the University of Virginia Rotunda Tuesday night with a black tarp, according to WVIR.

The NBC-affiliate in Charlottesville, Virginia, reports that dozens were out at the tarp with Black Lives Matter signs around 8 p.m. Three people were on the statue that is covered in black.

A sign on top of the covering read: "TJ is a racist and rapist."

On the ground, members of the group read a list of demands following white supremacists events in Charlottesville this summer.
