Virginia sees 3,240 new coronavirus cases, now reporting 285,149 statewide

There are now 4,414 deaths from the coronavirus in Virginia

RICHMOND, Va. – As of December 14, Virginia is now reporting 285,149 cases of the coronavirus across the commonwealth since March.

Monday’s total of 285,149 marks an increase from Sunday’s total of 281,909 cases.

Here is the breakdown of the 3,240 new cases reported Monday:

  • 502 new cases in Fairfax County
  • 249 new cases in Augusta County
  • 149 new cases in Loudoun County
  • 128 new cases in Virginia Beach
  • 102 new cases in Stafford County
  • 98 new cases in Henrico County
  • 96 new cases in Prince William County
  • 80 new cases in Chesapeake
  • 77 new cases in Spotsylvania County
  • 69 new cases in Chesterfield County
  • 68 new cases in Arlington County and Richmond
  • 55 new cases in Newport News
  • 47 new cases in Frederick County
  • 46 new cases in Hampton and Suffolk
  • 45 new cases in Alexandria
  • 44 new cases in Washington County and Bedford County
  • 39 new cases in Gloucester County
  • 36 new cases in Lynchburg and Campbell County
  • 34 new cases in Albemarle County
  • 33 new cases in Smyth County
  • 31 new cases in Amherst County
  • 30 new cases in Portsmouth
  • 29 new cases in Tazewell County and Rockingham County
  • 27 new cases in Norfolk and Lee County

  • 14 new cases in Franklin County, Manassas, Hanover County, Salem, Radford and Charlottesville

  • 12 new cases in Carroll County, Wythe County, Wise County, Martinsville, Grayson County, Buchanan County and Prince George County
  • 10 new cases in Henry County, Dickenson County, Middlesex County and Richmond County
  • 9 new cases in Orange County, Rockbridge County, Southampton County and King George County
  • 8 new cases in Waynesboro, Nelson County, Staunton and Giles County
  • 7 new cases in Bristol and Northumberland County
  • 6 new cases in Lancaster County and Poquoson
  • 5 new cases in Bland County, Amelia County, Accomack County, Madison County, Prince Edward County, Williamsburg, Essex County and Franklin
  • 4 new cases in New Kent County and Surry County
  • 3 new cases in Colonial Heights and Falls Church
  • 2 new cases in Clarke County, Manassas Park, Northampton County, Charles City County, Greene County, King and Queen County, Fairfax and Emporia
  • 1 new case in Roanoke, Patrick County, Nottoway County, Lunenburg County, Floyd County, Buena Vista, Rappahannock County, Craig County, Norton and Greensville County
  • Lexington and Brunswick County decreased by one case
  • Halifax County decreased by two cases

As of Monday, the Virginia Dept. of Health reports there have been 4,358,482 total testing encounters.

The term “testing encounters” includes individuals who have been tested more than once due to their profession, high-risk status or need for a negative result to return to work. The health department started using this metric on May 1. To learn more, click here.
