Virginia sees 3,395 new coronavirus cases, now reporting 274,438 statewide

There are now 4,370 deaths from the coronavirus in Virginia

RICHMOND, Va. – As of December 11, Virginia is now reporting 274,438 cases of the coronavirus across the commonwealth since March.

Friday’s total of 274,438 cases marks an increase from Thursday’s total of 271,043 cases.

Here is a breakdown of the 3,395 new cases in Virginia:

  • 320 new cases in Fairfax County
  • 250 new cases in Prince William County
  • 147 new cases in Virginia Beach
  • 145 new cases in Chesterfield County
  • 125 new cases in Loudoun County
  • 123 new cases in Henrico County
  • 109 new cases in Arlington County
  • 78 new cases in Richmond
  • 77 new cases in Alexandria
  • 74 new cases in Norfolk
  • 71 new cases in Lynchburg
  • 70 new cases in Montgomery County
  • 62 new cases in Chesapeake
  • 60 new cases in Hampton
  • 50 new cases in Frederick County
  • 49 new cases in Stafford County
  • 48 new cases in Richmond County
  • 47 new cases in Roanoke County and Bedford County

  • 2 new cases in Clarke County, Westmoreland County, Mathews County, Prince George County, Falls Church, Hopewell, Brunswick County, Rappahannock County and Emporia
  • 1 new case in King William County, Poquoson, Williamsburg, Highland County, Fairfax, Charles City County, Craig County and Surry County
  • Greensville County decreased by one case
  • Sussex County decreased by five cases

As of Friday, the Virginia Dept. of Health reports there have been 4,190,409 total testing encounters.

The term “testing encounters” includes individuals who have been tested more than once due to their profession, high-risk status or need for a negative result to return to work. The health department started using this metric on May 1. To learn more, click here.
