Virginia sees 2,877 new coronavirus cases, now reporting 247,380 statewide

There are now 4,160 deaths from the coronavirus in Virginia

RICHMOND, Va. – As of December 4, Virginia is now reporting 247,380 cases of the coronavirus across the commonwealth since March.

Friday’s total of 247,380 cases marks an increase from Thursday’s total of 244,503 cases.

  • 116 new cases in Prince William County
  • 101 new cases in Chesterfield County
  • 95 new cases in Henrico County
  • 93 new cases in Loudoun County
  • 74 new cases in Norfolk

  • 63 new cases in Arlington County
  • 60 new cases in Rockingham County
  • 59 new cases in Roanoke and Lynchburg

  • Northampton County decreased by one

As of Friday, the Virginia Dept. of Health reports there have been 3,869,288 total testing encounters.

The term “testing encounters” includes individuals who have been tested more than once due to their profession, high-risk status or need for a negative result to return to work. The health department started using this metric on May 1. To learn more, click here.
