RICHMOND, Va. – There are now 14,339 cases of the coronavirus in Virginia as of April 28.
Starting April 21, VDH began counting probable cases in addition to coronavirus cases confirmed by testing.

Tuesday’s total of 14,339 cases marks an increase from 13,535 on Monday, 12,970 on Sunday, 12,366 on Saturday, 11,594 on Friday, 10,998 on Thursday, 10,266 on Wednesday, 9,630 on Tuesday and 8,990 on Monday.
Here is a breakdown of the 804 new coronavirus cases in Virginia:
- 276 new cases in Fairfax County
- 96 new cases in Prince William County
- 60 new cases in Loudoun County
- 35 new cases in Portsmouth
- 31 new cases in Chesterfield County
- 29 new cases in Arlington County
- 28 new cases in Accomack County
- 26 new cases in Alexandria
- 23 new cases in Harrisonburg and Rockingham County
- 18 new cases in Henrico County
- 13 new cases in Culpeper County
- 10 new cases in Buckingham County and Manassas City
- 9 new cases in Richmond County and Fauquier County
- 8 new cases in Richmond
- 7 new cases in Spotsylvania County and Northampton County
- 6 new cases in Chesapeake
- 5 new cases in Suffolk County
- 4 new cases in Virginia Beach and Norfolk
- 3 new cases in Stafford County, Manassas Park, Albemarle County, Warren County, Fredericksburg, Isle of Wight County, Williamsburg City, Winchester and Augusta County
- 2 new cases in Mecklenburg County, Page County, Goochland County, Frederick County, King George County, Buchanan County, Colonial Heights, Martinsville, Roanoke City, Franklin City and Rappahannock County
- 1 new case in Shenandoah County, Hanover County, Salem, James City County, Henry County, Charlottesville City, Wise County, Westmoreland County, Scott County, Orange County, Grayson County, Highland County, Lee County, Cumberland County, Staunton, Franklin County, New Kent County, Caroline County, York County and Galax

These cases are “presumptively positive,” meaning they are pending confirmatory testing by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
As of Tuesday, the Virginia Dept. of Health reports that 82,753 people have been tested.
