'Inappropriate' worksheet asks middle school students about trophy wives

The Hopewell superintendent says it was not a part of the approved curriculum

HOPEWELL, Va. โ€“ Some parents in Virginia are outraged over what they're calling an inappropriate homework assignment.

The assignment given to students at Woodson Middle School in Hopewell asks questions like "What do you call a married man's girlfriend?" and "What do you call the younger boyfriend of a much older woman?"

One mother couldn't believe her ears when her sixth grade daughter mentioned the assignment.

"I was like, 'What the hell,' said Tara Sample, parent. "I immediately emailed the school board. I think there needs to be a reprimand."

Now the superintendent is responding saying the students' teacher found the worksheet on the internet. The assignment was not a part of the approved curriculum and the superintendent says it is not "in any way an appropriate learning tool."
