Roanoke takes tops spot in wealthiest zip codes in America

ROANOKE (WSLS 10) - The credit reporting company Experian has compiled the wealthiest zip codes in America and it turns out the wealthiest in Virginia is right here in Roanoke. 

Zip code 24005 takes the top spot with an average salary of more than $394,000. Charlottesville comes in second place. 

The wealthiest zip code across the United States is in New York with an average income of $2.9 million. 

Experian based the chart on reported earnings of the richest in each zip code based on tax returns.
