WMC – MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - Police in Memphis, Tennessee are investigating their 214th homicide of 2016.
That is the most homicides Memphis has ever seen, breaking the previous high of 213 set in 1993.
Investigators said they learned of the most recent homicide when a man said he found his co-worker unresponsive in his home.
"He was a good neighbor, hadn't been in the house two-three months," one neighbor said.
Officers determined the victim had been shot in what appears to be a home invasion.
Witnesses said the victim is a teacher at Shelby County Schools.
