UPDATE: Man killed in Roanoke City overnight; homicide investigation underway

ROANOKE CITY – 10:59 a.m. update:

WSLS 10 spoke with the mother of the man killed in Northwest Roanoke Sunday morning. Tamikco Pannell says her son Terrance Pannell was shot and killed. She also says another one of her sons Saeed Majied was shot and killed in NW Roanoke in 2013.

Pannell lives in Greensboro, North Carolina and said she drove to Roanoke early Sunday morning after receiving a phone call that her son had been killed. She says her son was renovating a house on Mercer Avenue but no one was living there at the time. Police have not released any additional information at this time.

So far no arrests have been made. The homicide is still under investigation. This is second shooting in Northwest Roanoke within three days.

Roanoke City police are investigating a homicide after a man is killed. According to a brief release on twitter by the Roanoke City Police Department, the homicide happened in the 1600 block of Mercer NW Sunday morning. The victim is described only as an adult man. Police were notified at 12:34 a.m. Sunday morning.

No arrests have been made at the time. The investigation is ongoing. Police said they will release details after 2 p.m.
