MARTINSVILLE, Va. – A man was arrested in Martinsville on Thursday following a shooting and barricading incident, Henry County Sheriff’s Office said.
HCSO said they responded to reports of shots fired around 4:20 p.m. on the 500 block of Lakewood Trail on Thursday. Upon arrival, they spoke with a victim who heard a gunshot and a projectile flew past his head. The victim stated he then saw the suspect walk into a home on Lakewood Trail.

Authorities said when they tried to contact the suspect, he barricaded himself in the home. After 90 minutes of trying to get the suspect to exit the home, he came out peacefully and was taken into custody.
The suspect was identified as 27-year-old Michael Holland. He was wanted for other charges prior to this incident, and was charged with the following:
- Aggravated Malicious Wounding (felony)
- Brandish Firearm (misdemeanor)
- Obstruction of Justice (misdemeanor)
- Probation Violation (felony)
- Probation Violation (misdemeanor)
- Resistance of an officer of the court (Henry County)
- Resistance of an officer of the court (City of Martinsville)
Following the arrest, authorities executed a search resident at the home. They found a high-powered air rifle and suspected narcotics.
No one was injured as a result of this incident. Holland is being held at the Henry County Adult Detention Center without bond.
