Be a veteran’s valentine by creating cards with the “Valentines for Vets” event at Bedford Public Libraries and Bedford Welcome Center.
Craft stations will be open from now until February 8th at all six library branches and the welcome center.
Decorators of all ages are welcomed to support and appreciate those who have served.
Cassandra Baldwin, youth services programming coordinator for Bedford Central Library, said many veterans look forward to these cards.
“They’re just really touched and excited that the community is thinking about them for, you know, more than just on Veterans Day throughout the year,” Baldwin said.
The cards will then be delivered to Salem VA Medical Center, the Virginia Veterans Care Center, and local Bedford Veterans.
Anita Dengle, the visitor service and volunteer coordinator for Bedford Area Welcome Center, said this is the third straight year the welcome center has partnered with the libraries for this event.
“It’s a wonderful way to express our gratitude for all that veterans have done for us,” Dengle said.
Last year, the library handed out over 1200 Valentines Day cards to veterans.
You can use the supplies in the library or take some home.
Drop off any cards you make at home at one of the library locations.
