ROANOKE, Va. – Huddle Up Moms (HUM), a Roanoke-based nonprofit organization, has launched a fundraiser to establish Southwest Virginia’s first certified diaper bank.
Project HUDDLE, the Huddle Up Diaper Distribution and Lifeline Endeavor, aims to raise $120,000.
That money will help Huddle Up Moms get certification, more supply storage, and buy an initial bulk of diapers.
Hannah Goodman, Director of Support for Huddle Up Moms, said they want to continue supporting the community for as long as possible.
“There is a diaper drought specifically in our region. Like I said, about 1 in 3 families struggle to provide diapers for their children,” Goodman said. “So, this is a big need. There’s no federal funding for it, so there’s no one providing any aid. And so, we’re here to bridge that gap.”
The organization helps more than 100 families each month by providing diapers, formula and baby supplies all free of change.
Families can receive a pack of 25 diapers twice a month, and people don’t need to show proof of ID or income to receive services.
Huddle Up Moms is dedicated to supporting mothers and families in keeping babies clean and happy.
