Concerts are expensive, so you’re probably going to shop around online for deals. However, you need to be cautious of scams. AARP is assisting us, and you in ensuring that you can stay safe when concert season comes around.

When looking for the cheapest tickets, make sure you stick to reputable sites and sources. We know that tickets can sell out quickly, and you may need to buy from a reseller. When doing so make sure it’s a verified resale site by checking the National Association of Ticket Brokers website. Also, be sure not to click copycat links that may lead you to a fake site.

Another tip is to avoid buying tickets from social media sites and online marketplaces like Instagram, Reddit, Facebook Marketplace, or Craigslist. Since most tickets are held digitally, they may give you a fraudulent ticket or one that doesn’t work, and since they aren’t verified, you may not be able to get a refund.

If you ever buy a ticket from a non-verified reseller, be sure you know the person well and can trust them. Never buy from a non-verified person you don’t know.
