The VSP unveiled a new safety sticker for vehicles in Virginia that passed safety inspections. The sticker will utilize the color green for the first time, VSP said.
The changes are designed to make the inspection sticker more difficult to counterfeit. The new sticker also includes a holographic state seal and a dogwood tree flower image.

According to VSP the sticker will also include two QR codes which directs individuals to the VSP safety division webpage, and the smaller QR code will be used for administrative purposes.
“We want Virginians to have confidence that when they see an inspection sticker on a vehicle that the vehicle has been truly inspected by a qualified professional, and that vehicle is, in fact, safe to be out on the road,” said Lieutenant Colonel Matthew Hanley, Interim Superintendent of Virginia State Police. “These new features add an additional layer of security to ensure criminals are not circumventing the safety inspection system.”
Inspection stickers being placed on vehicles this year which will expire in 2026 will be green, stickers in 2027, 2028 will be red and 2029 will be yellow.
