Roanoke Valley couple alleges Nazi symbols were found after tire rotation at Sam’s Club

Sam’s Club “acts swiftly” to address complaint, spokesperson says

ROANOKE, Va. – Sam’s Club is investigating what it calls a “disturbing allegation” at its Roanoke store.

A couple told 10 News Nazi symbols were scrawled on lug nuts while their tires were being rotated.

They said it was actually a second Roanoke Valley repair shop that noticed the writings while the couple’s brakes were being replaced on Friday.

The couple then went back to Sam’s Club to report the incident and were told the situation is being addressed.

They asked to remain anonymous because of fear for their safety. They feel they were targeted because they are an interracial couple.

“I was scared, I won’t lie. I have never ever, ever in my life been exposed to something like this,” the woman who reported the incident told 10 News. “You hear about things like that but we’ve been together over 35 years, and never — you get little comments or something but never nothing like this.”

The couple said they are coming forward to alert the community.

“We would have never known if we hadn’t went to get the brakes changed because we just got into the car and drove around,” said the man who reported the incident.

In a statement to 10 News Monday afternoon, a Sam’s Club spokesperson said:

“This is a disturbing allegation that we take seriously. We acted swiftly to address the concerns of the member and are investigating.”

Roanoke Police tell 10 News they received a report and an investigation is underway.
