FRANKLIN COUNTY, Va. – Franklin County Sheriff’s Office said a man received additional charges following a drug trafficking investigation on Wednesday.
FCSO said their Special Operations and Patrol Divisions surveilled the Lake Inn and Westlake area for reported drug trafficking activities on August 30, 2024. Upon investigation, they found 27-year-old Bobby Courtney of Henry County to be wanted on multiple charges, and was possibly located in a room at the Lake Inn. Courtney ran into a room at the Inn and exited shortly after, and was then taken into custody on his outstanding warrants.

Authorities said following an investigation of the room Courtney was staying in, they seized the following items:
- Approximately 269 grams of heroin/fentanyl
- Approximately 978 grams of methamphetamine
- A firearm with ammunition
- Drug packaging supplies
- An undisclosed amount of U.S. currency
FCSO said following an analysis of the substances, Courtney received several new warrants on January 8. He has been charged with the following:
- Three felony counts of Sell, Distribute, etc. of Schedule I/II Drug (3rd or subsequent offense)
- One felony count of Sell Schedule I/II Drug while Possessing a Firearm
- One felony count of Distribution of More Than 200 Grams of Methamphetamine Mix
- One felony count of Possession with Intent to Manufacture/Sell/Distribute More Than 100 Grams of Heroin Mix
- One felony count of Weapon Possession by a Non-Violent Felon
- One misdemeanor count of Possession of Schedule III Drugs
Law enforcement served Courtney with these charges on January 8. He is still in custody at the Henry County Adult Detention Center.
