Two people, several pets displaced following Lynchburg fire

LYNCHBURG, Va. – A fire at a home in Lynchburg has resulted in two people and their pets being displaced, Lynchburg Fire Department said.

LFD said firefighters responded to a structure fire on the 1700 block of Shaffer Street around 2:30 on Sunday. Responders said they had the fire under control in around 15 minutes.

Authorities said two residents and their pets were out of the home before crews arrived, and no injuries were reported. They are being assisted by the Red Cross to find temporary housing.

Crews said the fire was found to be electrical.
