ROANOKE, Va. – It’s now 2025, and from losing weight to eating healthy, there are probably a lot of resolutions on your list for the year.
10 News spoke with a lot of you about what your resolutions are this year.
“My New Year’s resolution is to expand my business and have a more profitable 2025,” said Kevin Hubbard.
“My New Year’s resolutions are probably to dress better and eat better,” said Elizabeth Lee.
Travis Rookstool said he wants to spend more time with his family.
" I have two daughters, and I spend a lot of time at work, so I’m just trying to think of more ways to spend more time with them,” said Rookstool.
Meanwhile, there were some of you who said you don’t do New Year’s resolutions. However, those of you who said you did, said that it helps you throughout the year.
“You have to set boundaries to get better as a person,” said Desirae Williams.
“It’s always good to have goals and try to reach for something bigger and better self-improvement,” said Rookstool.
Saving money might be the top priority this year, especially after spending money during the holidays.
Virginia Tech Assistant Professor Jesse Lineberry said to build three to four months in an emergency fund. This can help with any shortfalls and help you stay out of credit card debt.
Also, file your taxes early.
He even said it’s a great time to open a savings account.
“Shop online and try to find the best rate that you can. Go to your local bank or call your local bank and see what their savings rates are. Shop around. If you’ve already got a relationship with a bank you may end up getting a little bit of a better rate there,” said Lineberry.
Lineberry said you might even know if you’re getting any raises this year, so you can create a budget based on that information.
Lineberry also suggested increasing your 401K at work and matching it if you can.
