Keeping your belongings safe during thunderstorms and heavy winds

Weather Authority Alert Day Winter Graphic (WSLS)

A Weather Authority Alert Day has been issued for December 29 due to the possibility of heavy thunderstorms and up to 60 MPH winds, which the NOAA classifies as damaging winds. It’s important to keep yourself safe, and make sure your outdoor belongings aren’t at risk of flying away!

50-60 MPH winds can be strong enough to bring down small trees, as well as damage roofing. If you have any chairs, tables, bins, or umbrellas, it is recommended you bring them indoors, or ensure they are properly secured to the ground. The National Weather Service also recommends you remove any dead trees, loose branches, or debris that may be moved by the wind, and impact your home.
