DANVILLE, Va – One person is dead after a fire in Danville Thursday afternoon.
The Danville Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire at a home in the 3500 block of Westover Drive.

One victim was rescued from the blaze and transferred to SOVAH health in Danville, where they succumbed to their injuries.
Firefighters stayed on the scene for over two hours to extinguish the flames.
There were no other victims. The cause of the fire is unknown at this time, and is being investigated by the Danville Police Department and the Danville Fire Department.
