ROANOKE, Va. – Angels of Assisi is holding a pop-up adoption event on Saturday in order to assist with the Regional Center for Animal Care & Protection‘s at-risk pets.
AoA announced they are taking in multiple animals from the RCACP, as the shelter is at capacity, and they may soon need to begin putting pets down. The Roanoke Valley SPCA is also undergoing renovations, and many members of the community have taken in foster pets for the time being.
Angels of Assisi pulled 19 cats and 18 dogs from the shelter this afternoon.
“I think rescuing animals is a community effort,” said Lisa O’Neill, director for Angels of Assisi. “So when people come in to visit and donate and foster and adopt animals either from us or the regional center, it’s just that sort of sense of community.”
The event will be held on Saturday from 12 to 4 p.m. at the AoA adoption center. Cat and kitten adoption fees will be free, adult dogs will be $25, and puppies will be $200.
The RCACP will also be hosting their own adoption event from 1 to 5 p.m. on Saturday at 1510 Baldwin Ave NE. Adoption fees will be waived for all animals.
