Locals enjoy final night of Dickens of a Christmas

ROANOKE, Va – Beyond the vendors selling warm cider and last-minute gifts, there were smores stations, performances, and even horse-drawn buggy rides.

“I like the s’mores station and I liked seeing the dancers,” said Akaylaa Clark, one of the attendees.

As part of the festivities, the RVSPCA put on a festive pet costume contest.

Over 25 dogs participated, with winners in categories such as, best smile, crowd favorite, funniest costume, and more.

“It’s honestly one of the best feelings I could possibly describe around Christmas time. Just an absolute blast,” said Andrew Atkins, owner of winning dogs Draper and Teddy. “Roanoke Valley SPCA just does such tremendous work for the whole region.”
