ROANOKE, Va. – A huge day for Roanoke Regional Fire EMS Academy, Class 38 held a graduation ceremony this morning!
Recruits spent 22 weeks training, which included basic firefighter training, emergency medical training, and rescue training.
After today’s graduation, recruits will be able to start their careers officially.
“You’re no longer just Mr. Smith or Mr. Jones, or Mrs. Jones. You are Roanoke County Firefighter Jones, or Roanoke City Firefighter Smith, because people look up to you,” said Chief David Hoback.
The Fire and EMS Academy recruit process also provides valuable training and experience in team-building and physical fitness that cannot be obtained through conventional night or weekend certification classes.
