Roanoke County house fire leaves $40,000 in damages, deemed accidental

Three adult occupants made it out of the house safely and there were no reported injuries

ROANOKE CO., Va. UPDATE

The fire last night on Goodman Road in the Mt. Pleasant area left $40,000 in damages, according to the Roanoke County Fire Marshal’s Office.

They deemed it accidental and said it was caused by smoking materials.


ORIGINAL STORY

Three adults are safe after a house fire in Roanoke County Wednesday night.

At 9:51 p.m. ROCO Fire and Rescue responded to the reports of a house fire on the 4700 block of Goodman Road in the Mt. Pleasant area.

When first responders arrived on the scene they found smoke showing from the rear of the one-story home and was immediately marked a working fire and was brought under control in 15 minutes.

The home was occupied by three adults who all made it out safely, 10 News has learned. The fire damage was contained to a single room and its contents.

The Roanoke County Fire Marshal’s Office is on scene to investigate a cause and provide a damage estimate, according to the department.
