Quick response controls Catawba house fire, no injuries reported

CATAWBA, Va. Update:

The Roanoke County Fire Marshal’s Office has determined the cause of the fire Sunday morning.

The Fire Marshal has deemed that the fire was accidental in nature and was caused by a ground wire becoming energized.

10 News has learned the damage estimates are $100,000.


Original Story:

Roanoke County Fire and Rescue reported a house fire on Keffer Road in Catawba early December 15, 2024. Firefighters quickly responded to the 3:50 a.m. call, with Wagon 10 from Masons Cove arriving first. The fire was controlled in about 45 minutes.

One adult and four dogs evacuated safely, avoiding any injuries. The resident is displaced, and the American Red Cross is providing necessary assistance. The Roanoke County Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause and assessing the damage.
