Campbell County Planning Commission votes against landfill rezoning request

CAMPBELL COUNTY, Va. – It’s a “no” to the landfill rezoning request from Campbell County’s Planning Commission.

The proposal would rezone 213 acres from agricultural to industrial and add an additional 60 acres to the landfill.

The vote came down to three yeses and one no. Two other commission members abstained from the vote.

Multiple residents spoke out against the rezoning at a public hearing last month.

The landfill currently takes in trash from the City of Lynchburg, as well as Campbell, Appomattox, and Nelson counties.

No alternate plans have been announced so far.
