A flight instructor and a student from Averett Univeristy are safe after their plane malfunctioned and crashed in South Carolina.
A spokesperson for the Coast Guard said the aircrew pulled both people from the marsh and flew them to a nearby airport.
In a statement to 10 News, Averett University leaders confirmed that people on board intended to fly from Savannah to Danville when their autopilot malfunctioned during takeoff.
The statement went on to say, “Both pilots are safe and suffered no injuries. They reverted immediately to their flight training, remaining calm and exercising excellent judgment. The aircraft was up-to-date on all maintenance and inspections.”
