ROANOKE, Va. – Update 9 p.m.:
The suspect has been identified as 23-year-old Mark Gray of Roanoke.
Gray has been charged with second-degree murder the RPD said.
The investigation remains ongoing.
A man has been found dead after a shooting in Northwest Roanoke on Thursday, Roanoke Police Department said.
RPD was alerted of a man with a gunshot wound on the 3500 block of Melrose Avenue in Northwest Roanoke around 10:54 a.m. When they arrived, they found the man with a life-threatening gunshot wound. Despite efforts from Roanoke Fire-EMS, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities also said a suspect was taken into custody soon after this incident.
