ROANOKE, Va. – UPDATE:
A large response at an Econo Lodge in Roanoke was prompted by a shots fired call at the hotel, Roanoke Police said Sunday evening.
Police were dispatched at approximately 10:11 p.m. Once officers arrived, they determined the suspect was still in a room and heard another shot as they approached.
The SWAT team along with the Negotiations and Drone teams were called in and the hotel was evacuated.
After not being able to contact the suspect, the SWAT team broke into the room. They found an adult male dead from an apparent self-inflicted injury.
The investigation is ongoing.

Roanoke Police Department posted on Facebook that Orange Ave. was closed off around 11:30 p.m. last night due to them working on a “serious incident.”
The WSLS 10 News crew was on the scene and spotted an armored vehicle and SWAT team members.
Orange Avenue is now open.
