UPDATE
Roanoke County’s 911 system is now back up and running, according to county officials.

We’re told the outage was caused by an internal failure while electrical work was being conducted at the County’s Public Safety building.
During this time, 911 calls were redirected to Roanoke City.

Roanoke County officials are informing the public that 911 phone lines are down at this time.
They told 10 News that authorities are working diligently with neighboring jurisdictions to provide public safety support.
