Botetourt County Sheriff’s Office concludes search for wanted man in pursuit from Rockbridge County

BOTETOURT COUNTY, Va. – A search for a wanted man in the Arcadia area of Botetourt County has concluded, according to the Botetourt County Sheriff’s Office.

There was a heavy law enforcement presence in the Arcadia area of the county Thursday as authorities conducted a search of a wanted man.

He is wanted on a felony eluding warrant and another outstanding misdemeanor warrant for driving with a suspended license.

This came after a pursuit from the Parkers Gap area of Rockbridge County into the Arcadia area of Botetourt County.

According to Botetourt County Sheriff’s Office, during the pursuit, a female passenger moved into the driver’s seat while the driver, 36-year-old William Hazelwood, fled on foot.

After extensive efforts, and the use of multiple K-9s, authorities were not able to locate and apprehend Hazelwood.

Sheriff Ward said Hazelwood may have made his way back into Rockbridge County via National Forest service roads.

At this time, the sheriff’s office said there are no indications that Hazelwood poses a threat to the community.

Hazelwood is described as a man with reddish-curly hair and multiple facial tattoos.
