25-year-old man dead, passenger injured after motorcycle crash on I-81 in Botetourt County

BOTETOURT COUNTY, Va. – Virginia State Police is currently investigating a fatal two-vehicle crash involving a motorcycle that occurred Sunday, June 23.

According to VSP, the incident happened at 12:20 p.m. on Interstate 81 northbound at the 163-mile marker in Botetourt County.

We’re told a 2008 Harley Davidson Street Glide was driving northbound when it attempted to drive along the centerline in between two vehicles. The motorcycle then lost control and struck one of the vehicles, a 2020 Ram Promaster 3500 truck, authorities said. The motorcycle then overturned.

The driver of the motorcycle, who has been identified as 25-year-old Nicholas Jennings, of Moneta, died at the scene. A passenger on the motorcycle, 22-year-old Meghan Foster, of Hardy was seriously injured, VSP said.

Authorities said both Jennings and Foster were wearing helmets and the driver of the truck was not injured.
